The launch of the B-38 route provides direct public transport connectivity between Bairagadh, Mandideep and the Hoshangabad Road area. The route will connect around 300 colonies in the Hoshangabad Road area. The service is expected to provide commuters, students and other passengers living in these areas with easier access to major parts of the city, including MP Nagar, Rani Kamlapati Railway Station, Board Office, New Market and Bairagadh.
The B-38 route covers approximately 33.6 km. Buses will operate from the Bairagadh E-Bus Depot and travel via Board Office Square and Metro Station before reaching HEG Mandideep. The route will connect several key locations, including Rani Kamlapati Railway Station Platform No. 5, DRM Metro Station, Barkatullah University, Bagsewania Police Station, Ashima Mall, RKDF, Misrod, 11 Mile, Indus Town, Chinar Dream City, the Eicher-Satlapur area and the industrial areas of Mandideep.
Until now, electric bus services were available up to MP Nagar and ISBT, but there was no direct connectivity of this kind to Misrod, 11 Mile and Mandideep. The new route will expand public transport options across this stretch.
Around 10,000 passengers currently travel on Bhopal’s operational electric buses on an average day. Once 15 buses are deployed on the B-38 route, around 5,000 additional passengers are estimated to benefit from the service. The route is also expected to strengthen public transport connectivity between the western parts of Bhopal and Mandideep and the Hoshangabad Road area.
Electric bus fares are determined according to distance. The minimum fare for different sections is around Rs 6 to Rs 7, while the maximum fare is up to Rs 40. The existing electric bus network covers several major areas of the city, including Bairagadh, MP Nagar, New Market, Bawadiakalan, Salaiya, Rohit Nagar, Kohefiza and Peer Gate.
The PM E-Bus service in Bhopal began on July 30 with 10 buses. Another 10 buses were added on August 18. After 10 more buses were introduced, the fleet reached 30. With 10 buses now operating on the B-38 route, the city’s electric bus fleet has increased to 40.
Three other routes are currently also operational. B-35 operates between Chirayu Hospital-Bairagadh and Akriti Eco City-Salaiya; B-36 runs between Coach Factory Railway Station and Bairagadh Chichli-Kolar; and B-37 operates between Bairagadh and Nadra, Vallabh Bhavan, Board Office and ISBT.
With the launch of B-38 and the planned addition of five more buses from September 21, the expansion of Bhopal’s electric bus network is set to extend direct public transport access further towards Misrod, 11 Mile and Mandideep.
